Nano & Micro Laser Peel Treatment

At the forefront of laser skin resurfacing technology are two game-changing treatments from Sciton®, the Nano Laser Peel and Micro Laser Peel. More effective than traditional chemical peels and requiring a shorter downtime, these peels are quickly becoming the treatment of choice for those who want to achieve radiant, clear skin but don’t have the time for intense treatments with longer recovery periods. Restorative Medspa is pleased to offer these remarkable treatments to clients who are seeking an aesthetic solution for dull, tired, aged skin in a timeframe that meets their schedule’s demands.

What Are Laser Peels?

A laser peel is a skin resurfacing treatment that works through the application of a laser beam directly to the skin. All laser peels, including the Nano and Micro Laser Peel, work according to the following principle: a beam of high-intensity, concentrated light energy is directed onto the treatment area, where it is absorbed as heat energy by the skin tissue, destroying the top layers of this tissue and stimulating the skin’s natural healing response in its deeper layers.

When the skin’s healing response is triggered, the production of collagen fibers – responsible for the skin’s plumpness, firmness, and elasticity – is boosted. By removing the top layer of the skin and activating collagen production, laser peels help to eliminate skin imperfections, revitalize dull skin, brighten and even the complexion, and achieve a more youthful appearance.

What Sets Nano Laser Peel And Micro Laser Peel Apart From Other Treatments?

The Nano Laser Peel and Micro Laser Peel both use Sciton’s® revolutionary treatment device, Contour TRL (Tunable Resurfacing Laser). The Contour TRL uses an adjustable erbium laser with a wavelength of 2940 nm to deliver laser peels in a highly personalized way. Because of its wavelength and tunability, the laser can be set to an incredibly precise depth for each patient, ranging from 10 microns (light resurfacing) up to 700 microns (deep resurfacing). This allows aesthetic providers to precisely tailor treatments for their clients based on their particular skin concerns and tolerance for downtime. The laser can also be adjusted during the treatment itself: for example, a higher setting may be used over certain areas of the face whereas a lower setting can be used on others, where skin tissue is more sensitive.

The Nano Laser Peel and Micro Laser Peel are the go-to peel treatments for leading aesthetic clinics, because they use an erbium laser as opposed to a CO2 laser, which is less precise, causes greater injury to the surrounding tissue, and requires more downtime. Erbium laser peels are more comfortable, and cause less swelling, bruising, and redness than CO2 peels, ensuring a faster recovery period. Erbium laser peels are also less harsh and offer more effective, precise resurfacing, than traditional chemical peels.

Nano Laser Peel: Everything You Need To Know

The Nano Laser Peel, often referred to as the ‘weekend’ or ‘lunchtime’ peel, is the perfect treatment option for you if you’d like to give your skin a boost but your schedule can’t accommodate much downtime. The Contour TRL laser used to perform the treatment is set at a depth of 10 microns, giving your skin a light resurfacing that results in a brighter, more even complexion and revitalized appearance. By removing the topmost layer of skin tissue, the Nano Laser Peel is also able to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other skin imperfections.

After ensuring that you are a suitable candidate for Nano Laser Peel, our esteemed aesthetic physician, Dr Asma Ghafoor, will prepare you for the treatment by applying topical anesthetic, 30 minutes prior to the treatment.. After that, your skin will be cleansed and de-greased. She will then adjust the Contour TRL to the precise depth to provide you with a light resurfacing. The treatment is virtually painless and the entire treatment typically takes less than 1 hour (30 minutes of topical numbing, 15-20 minutes of actual treatment time).

One of the biggest advantages of Nano Laser Peel is that it requires very little downtime – usually 1-2 hours. You may experience slight swelling and redness, akin to a mild sunburn. Since nano laser peel is a full field resurfacing, which essentially removes barrier protection provided by the skin, you will need to apply an emollient such as Aquaphor, every few hours to help provide a barrier. While the outermost layer of the skin flakes off through natural exfoliation, a gentle non-fragranced moisturizer and cleanser should be used, and direct sunlight should be avoided. Your skin should heal fully within 2 to 3 days.

You will begin to notice the results of your treatment within 3 to 5 days, as the topmost layer of your skin is replaced by new, revitalized skin which is clearer, brighter, and more supple. The number of treatments you will need depends on your unique skin concerns and aesthetic goals – for most patients, one to three treatments scheduled six to eight weeks apart is sufficient. You may wish to incorporate the Nano Laser Peel into your regular skin care regimen to maintain your results and ensure a beautiful glow year-round.

Micro Laser Peel: Everything You Need To Know

The Micro Laser Peel is an exceptionally effective treatment for minimizing skin imperfections caused by aging and sun damage, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation. It is also an excellent choice for treating acne scars, large pores, rough skin texture, and uneven, dull skin tone. Whereas the Nano Laser Peel involves laser resurfacing at a depth of up to 10 microns, the Micro Laser Peel involves resurfacing up to a depth of 50 microns, making it a go-to treatment for those who desire deeper resurfacing but do not want a lengthy recovery period. For complete skin rejuvenation that requires a few days of downtime, the Micro Laser Peel is the treatment for you.

Your treatment will begin with a detailed consultation with Dr Ghafoor, who will assess your skin profile and gain an understanding of the skin concerns you’d like to address. As with nano laser peel, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment area. Dr Ghafoor will then set the Contour TRL device to the precise depth necessary to help you achieve your aesthetic goals while accommodating your capacity for downtime. The entire treatment will take 1 hour (30 minutes of topical numbing, 25-30 minutes of actual treatment time).

Each individual patient responds to laser resurfacing differently depending on the depth used on the Contour TRL device during their treatment. Usually, you can expect a downtime of 1 to 7 days, depending on the depth of your Micro Laser Peel. Old, damaged skin will flake off and your skin will heal fully in approximately 4 to 14 days. While your skin is healing, you may experience tightness, redness, and mild swelling. As previously noted for nano laser peel, you will need to apply Aquaphor for barrier protection and only use gentle non-fragranced cleanser and moisturizer. Be sure to avoid sun exposure and follow any post-treatment care instructions given to you by Dr Ghafoor.

Initial results will be apparent in as little as 2 weeks, and you will continue to notice skin tone, texture, and clarity improvements over several months. In some cases, the skin condition continues to improve for up to six months after treatment, with patients reporting a noticeable reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, and large pores, and a smoother, clearer, more radiant complexion.

The number of treatments you will need will depend on your unique aesthetic goals, the severity of your skin concerns, and your downtime tolerance. You can structure a treatment plan in consultation with Dr Ghafoor to achieve your desired results in a way that suits your lifestyle and budget. In most cases, one to three treatments are required, spaced roughly six to eight weeks apart. For enhanced results, you can speak to Dr Ghafoor about coupling your Micro Laser Peel with other laser treatments, such as ProFractional.
